Jacky Ickx struggled with the car during the opening three races of the 1970 season, retiring from the opening three rounds. However, as the season progressed so did Ickx’s performance and confidence in his car. The first podium came at the Dutch Grand Prix, before a stellar set of performances came in the tail end. Jackie Ickx won three of the final five races of the season and narrowly missed out on the championship by five points.
