However, chaos took the wheel on the final lap, as Hamilton’s front left tyre suffered a terribly mistimed puncture. This left Hamilton a sitting duck, with half a lap of track remaining, it seemed inevitable that Verstappen would overtake the Brit. However, Lewis Hamilton persevered with only three tyres left on the car, winning the race by a mere six seconds come the chequered flag.
