Description
Mika Häkkinen, known as "The Flying Finn," made his Formula 1 debut in 1991 with Team Lotus and rose to prominence during his years with McLaren. He won back-to-back World Championships in 1998 and 1999, becoming one of Ferrari's main rivals during that era and famously duelled with Michael Schumacher for the championship.
Häkkinen's smooth, yet aggressive driving style helped him secure a total of 20 race wins and 26 pole positions. He retired from F1 at the end of 2001, leaving behind a legacy as one of the sport's fastest and most skilled drivers, especially renowned for his overtaking prowess and cool composure under pressure.
Mika Häkkinen had a stellar 1998 Formula 1 season, winning eight Grands Prix and collecting 100 points across the season. Mika Häkkinen went on to win the championship in front of Michael Schumacher by a 14-point lead, to clinch his first world championship.
