The 2016 season was the debut year of the brand-new Renault F1 Team. Having bought out Lotus F1 Team, and Renault made the team their own. With the appointment of Abiteboul as team principal, and the brand-new driver line-up 2016 was an exciting year for Renault. The former McLaren driver of Kevin Magnussen and the GP2 World Champion of Jolyon Palmer took the helm of the car throughout the season. A brand-new team, brand-new car, brand-new team principal and brand-new drivers meant that the team took some time to hit the ground running. The two young drivers performed admirably and consistently in the team's development year.  

The headrest cooling panel is an integral part of the cars structure. The panel is located just to the outside of the head rest. With the engine being directly behind the driver, this panel has small channels and openings to direct air flow under the bodywork because the cars get so hot.  

The Renault R.S.16 had a famously bright yellow livery, and this panel matches the rest of the car perfectly. The bright yellow panel would make a perfect display to fans missing the bright yellow Renault team, or fans of Alpine as piece to show where the team came from.
