The beginning of the 1996 Formula 1 season was full of hope for Williams Racing fans as the team had narrowly missed out on both championships the year prior. The 1996 season started exactly how the fans would have dreamed of with Williams achieving a 1-2 finish at the season opener in Australia.
The Williams team did not let off the gas for the rest of the season, with the elite driver pairing achieving twelve race wins out of a possible sixteen. Damon Hill was crowned the World Drivers’ Champion with Villeneuve coming a close second meaning Williams had achieved the Constructors’ Championship.
